Is The Sleep Sense Program a Good Fit for Your Family?

Research shows that a well-rested child is curious, energetic, happy, playful, and eager to learn...

The Sleep Sense Program was created by Dana Obelman, a renowned sleep expert who believes that healthy sleep habits make for healthy children. Research shows that a well-rested child is curious, energetic, happy, playful, and eager to learn.

Of all the sleep training methods out there, our team has opted for the Sleep Sense Program because of the success many of us have experienced through using the Sleep Sense method with our own children. We loved that the Sleep Sense method was flexible, gentle, and accommodated our different parenting styles.

Where We Started

As the Founder of Sleeper Teachers®, Brittney’s journey with teaching sleep began when she personally used the Sleep Sense Newborn Sleep Education for her son Lincoln starting at 8 weeks old.

When the opportunity was presented to Brittney to become a sleep consultant, she knew she had to take the chance and start a business supporting families who were seeking help with sleep. So, in August of 2017, Brittney traveled to Sarasota, Florida for the intensive Sleep Sense Certification Program led by Dana! She then returned to Nevada and launched Brittney Stefanic Sleep Consulting and worked with families for 2 years before growing a team.

By summer of 2018, I added an adult sleep certification to my repertoire because I found that even after the little ones were sleeping well, parents were still struggling with their own sleep. Business continued to boom, both with pediatric and adult clients. And by early 2019, the waitlist to get started on the journey to better sleep was SIX WEEKS LONG. Yuck! No one should have to wait that long to go from exhausted to well-rested!

So in July of 2019, two new sleep consultants (and former clients, Sarah and Beth) joined the team to help alleviate a massive waitlist and client load.

A few months later, Emily hopped on board and we officially rebranded on January 1, 2020 to become the Sleeper Teachers®. Between March and September 2020, business was continuing to grow as more and more families found themselves home during the pandemic and needed expert sleep guidance as soon as possible. Enter four more consultants (Sara, Amanda, Chas and Nicole)!

We Take Our Role as Your Sleep Coach Very Seriously

When parents trust us as their child’s “Sleep Teachers,” either through one-on-one consultations, sleep guides, group coaching, or free tips and tricks shared on Instagram, they are placing a great deal of trust in us, and we take this responsibility very seriously.

We are dedicated to maintaining our 99% success rate in our work with clients who follow their sleep plans while staying up to date on the latest sleep education and safe sleep practices as a team. The role of supporting and educating families comes naturally to the Sleeper Teachers® as we tie together our backgrounds in teaching, motherhood and sleep science!

One of our favorite parts about the work we do is the customization of sleep plans for our clients to fit their family’s needs and lifestyle. The sleep plans we create for your family are personalized based on a complete evaluation that outlines your goals and parenting preferences which we then combine with our methods and strategies to determine what will work best for your family.

The Truth About Crying

Since the first question most people ask is whether this program involves “crying it out,” we like to address is right off the bat. Crying is your child’s natural and healthy way of protesting change, and you can expect that making changes to their sleep habits may result in some protest.

That’s why we’re always sure to tell parents that sleep teaching will most likely involve at least some amount of protest from your little one. We are happy to speak with you more about what this might look like once we know more about your little one and the sleep struggle that you are experiencing. Contact us for a free 15 minute evaluation call today, so we can talk all things sleep (and crying, too).

Please understand that we will never ask you to leave your child to cry alone for long periods of time, nor will we ask you to ignore their cries. The reason that we are so effective as Sleeper Teachers® is that we work together to develop a sleep plan that you feels comfortable to you, and that fits the needs of your family.

What to Expect from Your Sleeper Teachers® and the Sleep Sense Program

With us as your sleep consultants, the approach to improving your child’s sleep is pretty simple:

1. We’ll EDUCATE you about why sleep is so important for your child’s well-being. This will give you all the motivation you need to make changes to your child’s sleep habits.

“What I loved about this sleep training program was it was all laid out for us. For me, the plan took the emotional part out of it.” – Ryan, dad of a 2 year old

2. We’ll SUPPORT you by creating an easy-to-follow, step-by-step plan that is the right approach for your child. All children are different, and nobody knows your child better than you do. We will encourage you to share this knowledge with us to help inform the customized sleep plan that we create.

“It was with [Sleeper Teachers] support and knowledge that our life changed.” – Siri, mom of 1 year old

3. We’ll COMMUNICATE with you and show you how to measure success. No, you shouldn’t expect your child to sleep 12 uninterrupted hours on the first night — although it does happen! We’ll tell you what you should expect and be available to support you along the way through our “sleep coach in your back pocket” follow up support. This is the BEST part of our program according to our clients.

“Brittney really took time to make sure I knew and understood the plan before my baby was born, and since enacting the plan, she has been very responsive to my questions. She is also very helpful with troubleshooting with me problems pop up.” – Rebecca, mom of a 12 week old
